TEHRAN – Talks on the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline are moving forward, Iranian Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel told Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad, ISNA news agency reported on Friday.

Haddad-Adel and Musharraf said they consider the project a promoter of peace and security in the region.

The project, which has been dubbed the ‘peace pipeline’, will transfer Iranian gas to Pakistan and India and should enhance ties between the three countries. Musharraf said Islamabad plans to develop ties with Iran in all areas, adding, “The peace pipeline, which will carry Iran’s gas to Pakistan and India, is a winning card for the three countries.”

Thus, Tehran, Islamabad, and New Delhi should make optimal use of this winning card to promote peace and security in the region, the Pakistani president noted.
